Get to know us
At Open Sight, we believe that better decisions lead to better outcomes. We help individuals and organizations develop judgement, critical thinking, and decision-making through practical learning experiences that go beyond traditional training. Using decision rehearsal exercises, serious games, workshops, and consulting, we create opportunities for people to think through challenges before they encounter them in the real world. Our goal is simple: help people see problems more clearly, make better decisions, and perform with confidence when it matters most.

Founder and Director
Alex Buck is the founder of Open Sight, a company focused on helping individuals and organizations improve decision-making, professional development, and organizational learning through practical, experience-based methods.
Alex's career has been built around leadership, planning, education, and the development of people and teams. He has commanded organizations, led operational planning efforts, and worked alongside Canadian, American, and international partners in environments where sound judgement, adaptability, and clear communication were essential. His experience includes operational deployments to Afghanistan, Ukraine, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as planning and leadership roles within both Canadian and U.S. organizations. During an exchange posting with the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division, he served as Chief of Plans and Chief of Operations, coordinating complex multinational operations and planning efforts.
Alex is also an educator, wargame designer, and advocate for experiential learning. He has designed and facilitated wargames, decision exercises, workshops, and professional development programs that challenge participants to think critically, communicate effectively, and make decisions in uncertain and rapidly changing environments. His work has focused on helping leaders develop judgement through practice rather than theory alone.
Through Open Sight, Alex brings these experiences to organizations across a wide range of sectors. By combining serious games, decision rehearsal exercises, facilitated workshops, and consulting, he helps clients build more capable teams, improve decision quality, and prepare for challenges before they become real-world problems.
